A little clarity before we begin.

What we do, how we work, and what you can expect. If your question isn’t here, the desk is a message away.

Can't I just use a newswire directly?

You can, and for some announcements you should. If the news is routine and the audience is generic, a wire is the honest, cheap answer — we would tell you the same across a table. Press Relay exists for the announcements that can't afford to disappear: the raise, the launch, the earnings call, the entry into a market where nobody knows your name. For those, the wire is the infrastructure. The judgment about what to say, where, and when is the product.

What exactly does Press Relay do that a wire doesn't?

A wire accepts your upload and sends it everywhere it can. The desk reads your draft first. An editor strengthens the story and reworks the headline. A strategist decides which countries, which agencies, and which wires it should travel through, in what order. Then we verify where it actually landed and report that to you. The wire is the pipe underneath. Everything above the pipe is the work.

How does an engagement actually work?

It starts with your draft or a short brief. An editor reviews the material and comes back with notes and a headline recommendation. Once you approve the direction, the strategist builds the routing plan — markets, agencies, wires, timing — and shares it before anything moves. Distribution runs on the agreed schedule, and you receive a verified placement report after. One named person answers for the engagement throughout.

What does it cost?

Engagements are scoped per announcement, because the honest price depends on the work: how much editing the draft needs, how many markets it should enter, how fast it has to move. You always see the full scope and price before any work begins. What we don't do is charge by volume — the size of a blast is not a measure of value.

How fast can you move?

Fast enough for news. Standard engagements move from draft to distribution in days. When something can't wait — a crisis, a market-moving announcement — tell us the deadline. Rush review is part of the desk's work, and the timeline is agreed in writing before we start.

Who reads my draft?

A senior editor — a person, with a name you will know, not a queue. Drafts are reviewed in the order they arrive, and every one receives a reply within two business days.

What won't you do?

We won't send releases that aren't ready, distribute to markets your story doesn't belong in, promise placement we can't verify, or let software make editorial decisions. The full standard is published on the Method page, in plain language, because a bar you can't read isn't a bar.
